In Loving Memory of Salami Marie
Salami Marie, also affectionately known as Nonny, Not Not, Tunka Tuna, and Shlamo (her Jewish name), a beloved calico and cherished member of our family, passed away at the age of 18. She was more than a pet—she was a constant presence, a comfort, and a companion through nearly an entire childhood.
Salami came into the family's life as the best birthday gift, and from that moment on, she became part of their hearts and their home. Kai'Enna was just five years old when she adopted her from the humane society for her birthday, and in many ways, they grew up together. Salami was there for scraped knees, late nights, quiet mornings, and all the changes life brought along the way. Through every stage, Salami remained steady, familiar, and full of love.
Salami's story was one of rags to riches. Once a dumpster kitty brought to the shelter, her jewel-green eyes caught Kai'Enna's heart and led her to a life of warmth, safety, and love. She went from surviving the streets to ruling the home—proof that sometimes the best things find you when you least expect them.
With her soft calico coat and unmistakable personality, Salami had her own little joys. She loved catnip—especially when it was followed by her love for Twinkies, a quirky habit that always made the family smile. She also loved spaghetti and cheese, just like Kai'Enna and Grandma, a small but special bond that made her feel even more like family. These little things perfectly captured her one-of-a-kind spirit.
Eighteen years is a very long life, and Salami spent every one of those years deeply loved. Still, no amount of time could ever feel like enough. Her absence leaves a quiet space that can never truly be filled, but her memory will always remain.
Salami Marie was with the family for a very long time, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved. Thank you for growing up with all of us, sweet girl. Rest peacefully.
